Gumbo, potpourri, jambalaya, lagniappe – the French words and the food images abound when people think about New Orleans. They also apply to our yearbook.comp workshops in the Crescent City.
For this seventh year in New Orleans, we enhance our already successful workshop formula by welcoming a new instructor, a new mini-course and a slightly revised format. We also have moved back to our traditional date in early June.
A new instructor joins us for the photography sessions, while Time Management 101 replaces Ethical vs. Legal Decision Making in our mini-course offerings. All mini-courses are held before the workshop begins and require registration and an extra fee. (See workshop registration form.)
More than 120 students from almost 40 colleges attend each year, so there are plenty of new faces for you to meet and share yearbook ideas with.
We continue to listen to your comments and tweak the schedule so that you will have ample time for sessions, but also the opportunity to see how New Orleans continues to recover.
The mini-courses start and end early Thursday to give you free time before the opening session at 3:15 p.m. We scheduled more of the workshop on Thursday, but still end earlier Thursday night than previously.
Friday’s sessions end by 5 p.m. to allow you daylight hours in the city.
The Advisers’ Roundtable, another popular feature, will be between the mini-courses and the opening session. Lesley W. Marcello, past president and a Lifetime Member of College Media Advisers, Inc., will moderate that session for advisers only from 2-3 p.m.
So come on down to New Orleans, plan your yearbook and enjoy the city.
Important Workshop Reminders:
• Register early to save money. Make substitutions later if needed.
• Reserve your spot in one of the mini-courses. (Add-on to basic fee.)
• Request a time slot for an additional charge with the cover designer.
• Book your hotel rooms using the form on this site. With several hotels
with the same name, this is the best way to make sure you get the low workshop
rate.
• Mention the CYM code to qualify for that reduced rate.
